Joining U3A and Joining Classes

U3A membership is currently $50 for the first year (including your badge), and $40 per year ongoing. Half year from term 3 is $30 for new members (including badge), $20 for existing members.

To join U3A, you can use the form that is on this website in the section “Join U3A”. Then you may enrol in the classes. For your annual membership fee you can attend as many classes/activities as you wish.

The year is divided into four terms, similar to school terms. There are no examinations.

Notionally, classes are all free – however many venue locations have a cost to U3A to use, and so many classes have a small term fee to cover that venue cost. Venue fees when they apply are typically $5 per term or $10, and in some cases (computer classes) $25.

In most cases, to join a class you contact the listed tutor for that class and get yourself enrolled for the class. Note: Some classes may have a waiting list.

When you are a U3A member, you get a newsletter to download electronically, or we can post you a copy. The newsletter has complete class details for each term. It can be downloaded here.

And one more thing – late each January, U3A runs an Open Day where you can see displays of most of the classes, meet tutors, end even enrol in classes.
